THE FUNGAL KINGDOM

  • BETA-GLUCANS

Beta-glucans: Beta-glucans are polysaccharides that occur naturally in the cell walls of functional mushrooms. The health benefits provided by functional mushrooms come from their active compounds and beta-glucans are some of the most important of these compounds due to their immunomodulatory actions.

  • EXTRACTS

An extract can be created in liquid or powder form and is typically made by soaking raw mushrooms in a liquid such as alcohol or water in order to extract and concentrate key compounds.

  • FRUITING BODY

The fruiting body is the reproductive structure of the mushroom and is what we see growing above the ground. It’s what we typically think of when we picture a mushroom.

  • FULL SPECTRUM

The term “full spectrum” refers to when the whole mushroom organism is used - its fruiting body and mycelium.

  • FUNCTIONAL MUSHROOMS

The term “Functional mushrooms” refers to the specific varieties that have health benefits beyond providing nutritional value. These types of mushrooms are packed with antioxidants, polysaccharides, and other unique compounds that science has shown may help provide cognition-enhancing, immune-strengthening, stress-relieving, and anti-aging benefits, among others.

  • MYCELIUM

The mycelium is the root system of a mushroom, located underground or within the texture of its host (a plant, tree, fallen log, etc).

  • POLYSACCHARIDES

Polysaccharides are the most abundant carbohydrates found in functional mushrooms and normally perform one of two functions - energy storage (starch) and structural support (dietary fibre). Some also have direct medicinal and physiological benefits.
